Before the war Driver A Beasley lived in Gorsemoor Road, Heath Hayes. He enlisted with the Royal Horse Artillery in April 1917 and a few months later was sent to Mesopotamia (Mesopotamia was an area of present day Iraq). Shortly after he became ill and was sent to India to to convalesce. He stayed in India until Armistice and was discharged on 16th March 1919. He received the General Service and Victory Medals.
