Private Isaac Brown

poppyPrivate Isaac Brown was born in 1891, the son of Mr & Mrs John Brown of Hednesford Road (and later Gorsemoor Road) Heath Hayes.

Before the outbreak of war, Isaac is known to have worked as a miner at the Wimblebury pit.

He went on to enlist with the R.A.M.C (Royal Army Medical Corps) in 1915 and was later transferred to the 1st Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment.

Isaac was killed in action on 28th December 1915, alongside comrade Private William Archer, also from Heath Hayes.

Isaac and William are commemorated on the Heath Hayes War Memorial and the Loos Memorial in France.
